Just a short update...

So here I am at Vivien's, and we're trying to finish up the sixth installment in the Calendar Boys series, a little novella called Commencement. Vivien's kids are playing video games with my sisters. And we're all completely stuffed with food. It's actually one of the best days I've had this entire year. It's just really freaking nice to relax, to enjoy the warm California weather, and to do the thing I love to do more than anything--write with Vivien.

Not that this is a good time for me to take a break from reality. I've got my MA exams in 12 days, and I've got to do a conference, and I've got to work on papers. I know that the timing could have been better. But sometimes, you've just go to take a break, you know? Recharge the batteries. In a lot of ways, Vivien's house is becoming the haven I run to when I'm beat from school and the rest of the world. So where do you go when it's time to recharge? It could be a real, physical place, like a house in CA, or just an imaginary space, like a good book, or an X-Box 360 game.

Books (and eating out) are my favorite ways of recharging! I would cry if my PC ever broke down. All my ebooks...
